In July 2019 myself and my 15-year old son went to South Africa on a safari with LJ Safaris. What a great experience we had. We started our hunt in the Karoo. I was very surprised at how big of a concession that was. And the sheer number of animals we saw was amazing. It was a fun place to hunt. I love hunting the mountain country. It even snowed on us one day. I did not expect that in South Africa. We were blessed to harvest a Springbuck (common and black), Gemsbuck, Black and Blue Wildebeest, Mountain Reedbuck, Eland, Kudu and Red Hartbeest.
The lodging was amazing and the food was great. My son is a picky eater and I told him before we went, he would go hungry if he didn’t eat what they made. Well LAuren found out he was a picky eater and she went out of her way to get other food that he would eat. She also got him a big thing of Chocolate so he could have his chocolate milk. They went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy and taken care of.
When we left there, we went to the coast for 5 more day of hunting. The lodging and food here was amazing as well. We hunted a lot of new species there. It was way different to the Karoo. Very thick and green. We hunted Bushbuck. They are my favourite. They are very weary and only eat early and late. Juan was our PH. He really knows his stuff and we had a successful trip there as well. We were blessed to harvest Warthog, Impala, Caracal, Blesbuck (common and white), Kudu, Bushpig, Nyala, Bushbuck, Giraffe and Zebra. What an amazing trip.
I didn’t know what to expect there, but I feel Juan and Lauren are some of my good friends now. We text back and forth weekly. I can’t wait to return and hunt with them again. I have a return trip lined up to hunt buffalo and other stuff with them in 2 years. I’m taking my wife and my other son.
