The Highlight of The Trip!!!
The Cape Buffalo!
Some young buffalo bulls, as inquisitive as they are, heard or smelt something and started moving in our direction…
We are thrilled to have Arnie back hunting with us again. First afternoon arriving at our Karoo Concession, after a visit to the range, the hunt was on…
First animal was a beautiful Lechwe Arnie! Well done! The next morning we were out looking for Waterbuck when Arnie spotted this magnificent Red Hartebeest. Who could pass up on a Hartebeest like that? Arnie made an excellent shot. When out hunting one never knows what you might find and what opportunities you may be given.
A great day in the mountains! Our focus was Waterbuck and after not seeing many the previous day, we moved to a completely different area of our large Karoo Concession. We started to see plenty and spotted a big Waterbuck bull in the distance. The stalk was on, but he ran away from us. We made our way in the direction where he had moved off to. The one tracker spotted him lying down under a tree in the shade. Arnie made the perfect shot and the Monster Waterbuck was down! That afternoon we had some luck and Arnie got his Blue Wildebeest, Vaal Rhebuck and Blesbuck. It was soon our last day hunting at our Karoo Concession. Some great walk and stalks and some beautiful animals were taken.
We have moved down to one of our Coastal Concessions the next morning and are on the hunt for Common Reedbuck, Buffalo, Sable, to name a few.
The Highlight of The Trip!!!
The Cape Buffalo! As we were setting out this morning we spotted a herd of buffalo in the distance. Near to that herd was a second herd of buffalo. We needed to plan our walk and stalk to avoid being seen. We glassed both herds and found the bull we wanted. We made our approach and the plan worked brilliantly. Now it was to get try get the bull out on his own, as he was in the middle of the herd. Some young buffalo bulls, as inquisitive as they are, heard or smelt something and started moving in our direction. This benefitted us as the big bull then followed and came out in a clearing. Arnie made a perfect shot and the bull was hit hard. The rest of the herd moved off and the bull was left behind. Another 2 great shots were placed and the bull was down! What a beautiful Buffalo, Arnie!
The last few days were a bit challenging. That’s what walk & stalk and fair chase is all about! Hunting wouldn’t be hunting if you didn’t have a few challenging days! Arnie made some great shots on a beautiful Roan and a Common Duiker.
When Arnie previously hunted with us in 2019, one of the animals we did not get on Arnie’s list was a Common Reedbuck. So, this time we were determined to find Arnie one. After searching for a few days we tried another area and we had great luck! We spotted this Common Reedbuck and at first glance noticed he was the one we had been waiting for. Stalk was on and Arnie made a perfect shot! He has such great character in his horns and a once in a lifetime trophy!
